Taiyuan City is the capital of Shanxi Province, abbreviated as Union (also known as Bingzhou, and Jinyang in ancient times). Taiyuan is connected to Xinzhou in the north, Yangquan in the east, Luliang in the west, and Jinzhong in the south. It is located in the Jinzhong Basin in the north-central Shanxi Province.
