Shuyang (Shuyang) is abbreviated as Shu, named after it is located in the sun of Shushui, and is the most populous county in Jiangsu Province. It is located in the Yangtze River Delta region in eastern China, in the north of Jiangsu Province, the lower reaches of Yishu Si River, at the junction of Xuzhou, Lianyungang, Huai'an, and Suqian [1], and belongs to the transition zone between the southern Shandong hills and the Jianghuai Plain. Located at the intersection of the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone, Huaihai Economic Zone, and Coastal Economic Zone, it is an important transportation artery in the north of Jiangsu Province.

Shuyang has a long history. It has a history of more than 2,000 years since Qin established county rule. Shuyang is an important part of the birthplace of Han culture and is known as "the hometown of Yuji, the hometown of flowers and trees, and the pearl of Jianghuai".

Shuyang is a national-level ecological demonstration zone, a hometown of flowers and trees in China, a national civilized county seat, a double-support model city in Jiangsu Province, a national green well-off city, a national greening model county, and a national technologically advanced county.

Shuyang is one of the three pilot counties directly administered by Jiangsu Province. In 2012, Shuyang County successfully ranked among the top 100 counties (cities) in the country and ranked 57th in the top 100 counties in the country; in 2013, it ranked 51st among the top 100 counties in the country.
