Case description

"Ten Most Beautiful Lakes in Hubei in My Heart" Selection-Shishou Swan Lake

[Lake name card] Swan Lake is located in Shishou City, with a water area of 14.8 square kilometers. It is one of the youngest lakes in the province. The lake area protects two "national treasures": finless porpoise and elk.

Swan Lake is the youngest lake in Shishou and one of the youngest in the province. Speaking of youth, the lake is only 42 years old. Compared with many lakes that have experienced vicissitudes and rich accumulation, it is really tender.

In Shishou, people tend to talk about becoming a lake overnight, which adds a bit of mystery to the lake. During the main flood season in July 1972, the mighty river water stayed on the sandy beach Zizhushui. It seems that overnight, the Yangtze River, which was navigable, was blocked by the mud and sand from it. In fact, in the Shishou of the Yangtze River, the natural cutting of rivers like this has occurred many times. Only after the founding of the People's Republic of China, this was the third time in July 1972. The Yangtze River was bent naturally, the old road became an inner lake, and the Swan Lake was born.

In Shishou, Swan Lake is not well-known to people, only that there is a Swan Island. It turns out that there is a swan village on the continent. Every winter, there are occasional swans to stay for four or five days, so it has this reputation.

People were familiar with Swan Island before because there are two national treasures here. One is an elk and the other is a finless porpoise. The former is a national first-class protected animal, and the latter is a national second-class protected animal. The former has 500 active beaches, and the latter has more than 40 heads to swim at the bottom of the lake. These two national treasures are enough to make Shishou people proud.

The elk and finless porpoise in the Swan Island Reserve are like being in a paradise. As the economy develops and the population increases, the "national treasures" can better thrive in their habitats. The people of Shishou continue to write the legend of protecting treasures.
